Accommodations are constructed of tropical hardwoods, stone, and tile, and are furnished with 19th-century French furniture, wicker, and accessories built by local craftspeople. You'll find interesting touches in all the rooms: sinks made of shells, or open, rock-walled showers. All units afford total privacy and have indoor gardens and plunge pools, plus showers. Many rooms have four-poster queen-size beds draped in mosquito netting, and all have fridges. Breezes cool the rooms, which are not air-conditioned. To get a room here in the winter, reserve 4 months in advance. We're not kidding. The Dasheene Restaurant & Bar offers fine dining and specializes in Creole and Continental cuisine. The seafood is caught fresh daily. Guests enjoy high tea in Ladera's botanical garden.
